Our Process

Getting started on the design build process for a renovation project or custom home can be an exciting but overwhelming task. Here are some steps to help you get started:

Budget

Before you start any design work, it’s important to determine your budget for the project. Consider factors such as the cost of land, materials, labor, and any unexpected expenses that may arise. This will help you to ensure that your design and building plans are realistic and affordable. If some things are unclear, let us help guide you!

Builder

Once you have a budget in mind, you’ll need to find a designer & builder who can help you bring your vision to life. Look for builders with experience in building custom homes, a good reputation, and a portfolio of work that matches your style and preferences.

Wish List

Spend some time creating a wish list of features and amenities you would like to include in your new home. This can include everything from the number of bedrooms and bathrooms to the type of flooring and appliances you prefer.

Design Floor Plan

Work with your builder and an architect to create a floor plan that meets your needs and preferences. This may involve several rounds of revisions and adjustments to ensure that the design is functional, aesthetically pleasing, and meets your budget constraints.

Materials & Finishes

Once the floor plan is finalized, it’s time to start selecting materials and finishes for your new home. This may include everything from the type of roofing material to the paint colors and hardware finishes. It's a lot, but we are there to help guide you to make the best decisions within budget.

Permits

Before construction can begin, you’ll need to obtain any necessary permits from your local government or building department. Your builder can help you navigate this process and ensure that all necessary permits are obtained before construction begins.

Overall, the build/design process for a new custom home involves several steps and can be a complex and time-consuming process. By working with an experienced builder and taking a thorough and organized approach, you can help ensure that your new home meets your needs and preferences while staying within your budget.
